Happy Earth Day Everyone! #earthday
Shouldn’t we take this opportunity to reflect on all the gifts Mother Earth provides us? #motherearthsgifts
Let us acknowledge her gifts from the air we breathe, the food we eat, to the water we drink so we can sustain and thrive. #acknowledgehergifts #airwebreathe #foodweeat #waterwedrink And let us not forget Mother Nature’s magnificent expressions of all life forms that depend on her health and vitality. #mothernaturesmagnificentexpressions Since beautiful Mother Earth gives birth to, nurtures and sustains all life, shouldn’t we take good care of her?
Together, we have the ability to make a significant difference to feed, heal and nurture Mother Earth by simply making better choices and being behaviorally cognizant. #betterchoices #behaviorallycognizant An essential imparting is that food is our “first line medicine” but our food choices can also serve as an ailment to Mother Earth if not wisely considered. #foodourfirstlinemedicine
Did you know that in the United States, food waste is estimated at between 30-40 percent of the food supply? [1] When you consider the totality of resources provided by Mother Earth to bring food from farm to table -it is quite alarming! [2] Over half of all food wasted takes place in homes of developed countries. [3] What I find distressing is that 25% of the world’s fresh water supply is used to grow food that is never eaten. [4] In addition, yearly 3.3 billion tonnes of CO2 is a result of food waste [5] and if food waste were a country it would be the 3rd largest emitter of greenhouse gases (after China & the USA). [5] Now knowing this, we can see the detriment on many levels, can’t we? #foodwaste #wasteofresources
All of these facts lightly skim the surface of the issue before we even consider other essential elements about the foods we purchase but do not eat. However, given the current pandemic situation, I am hoping that everyone will be willing to take a moment to consciously assess her/his/their needs before she/he/they purchase in excess and if waste is created she/he/they consider healthful alternatives, like composting, before yet again sending food to the landfill. #landfill #healthfulalternatives
So the next time you reach to throw away a food item in the trash bin, I would like to ask you to think about performing that same act with a gift that you have received from someone who loves you magnificently.
I look forward to supporting you in identifying your impact on Mother Earth and the ways that you may be able to ease that impact, which not only will serve Mother Earth’s health and vitality but your own health and vitality as well!
All the best, love & light~
Tammy
